ETHEL BENNETT, FOUNDER Ethel, Ms. New York Senior America 1985, is the Founder and was Director of Ms. New York Senior America for more than 20 years. She was also the National Pageant Director for many years. Ethel is an actress, song stylist, print model and has performed in TV and radio commercials and in many local theatrical productions. She writes, directs and produces shows for organization functions, charities, hospitals and nursing homes. She writes a monthly column, "Age of Elegance", for 50 + LIFESTYLES. Her biography, "Ring Them Bells", was recently published. Ethel is also a licensed real estate agent. She received a Special Merit Recognition Award from Radio Station WLUX. She was named "Woman of the Year"by Sandel Senior Center in Nassau County and most recently "Woman of the Year of Suffolk County".
MARLEEN SCHUSS, DIRECTOR Marleen has been interested in dance since childhood. As an adolescent she was an outstanding student of classical ballet and appeared frequently on the Horn & Hardart Children's Hour TV program. She danced in ballet performances at Hofstra College where she received her degree in elementary education and psychology. She went on to teach elementary school on Long Island. Marleen has 6 children and 13 grandchildren. When her children were grown, Marleen established her own business in home and fashion design and pursued that career for many years. Expanding her talents, Marleen became a well known party planner for social events on Long Island and New York City. In 1990 Marleen became associated with Ms. New York Senior America. Working closely with Ethel, Marleen became co-director, and in 2006, she became director of Ms. New York Senior America.
